Western Sydney Airport is one of the largest civil engineering projects underway in Australia.
Construction will commence in the second half of 2018 and the airport will open in 2026.
The Stage 1 airport will have a single 3.7-kilometre runway and facilities for up to 10 million annual passengers. The airport has been planned for staged development in the future. When needed, expected around 2050, a second parallel runway will be built.
The first priority for WSA Co is to award contracts for enabling activities to prepare the site, followed by awarding a design and construction contract for the main airport works.
WSA Co will engage private sector experts to ensure Western Sydney Airport is delivered to a high standard, in appropriate timeframes, and achieves the best outcome for the region.
